Yearly Employee Opinion Survey
Originally I came to Charter looking for a good place to advance my career in the telecommunications industry, but alas, I have long since discovered there is certain criteria you have to meet when striving to achieve these goals in this company. If you are not a part of this or that "Group," then you are stuck as a CSR for as long as you work at Charter. Job performance has absolutely nothing to do with career advancement here, it's all about knowing the right people and going out drinking with them every night of the week.
What I like best about working here now is trying to break the system and the established rules of advancement, to force my way in to higher posistions and management, and promotoing my strong belief that this company has no love for it's American Indian employees and will strive to do anything to keep them down.
In the course of 2 years, I have only be able to make one advancement, and it was the same posistion in a different part of the company, meanwhile someone who had a 1.2 (out of 5) scorecard for 4 months gets a nesting coach/supervisor posistion? My scorecard in the same time frame was 3.75-4.25, but I was told "You don't perform well enough for this posistion." This is complete and blatent discrimination against either my person, or my ethnic background.
The complete removal of the s2s program as a requirement for keeping your job. In my department, we are Tech Support, never once were we sales people, nor hired in as sales people, and technically we never received any sort of sales training that would meet with current national sales training standards.
We need to train our reps to be able to make these sales, but at the same time allow them to pick and choose who and when they make these sales attempts to. Keep the OPC standard, but remove the s2s portion of QA completely.
The sales attempts being made at Charter make me more ill to my stomach in my personal beliefs and life than I ever was as both a New & Used Car salesman, ripping little old ladies heads off, making $3,000 additional off a single vehicle being sold to an 86 year old woman whose husband had passed away just the month before. Is this the type of atmosphere and legacy Charter wants to leave as it digs itself further in the hole?
Another issue is occurances, if I am 8 minutes late, due to a blown tire, really bad traffic accident, etc.. I am given a full occurance and have to work 7:52 on top of it? In this case, I would just call in and take the full occurance that I was going to be given anyway, and just enjoy an extra off, who is it really hurting more in this case? Definitely not the person who was going to be forced to work and yet still have a whole occurance held against them for at least six months.
